I'm Barbara Canney

I am a fine art photographer living in a coastal town just south of Boston, MA.  I find such joy in my day to day travels just observing my surroundings.  I am constantly looking.

 Sometimes I go on a mission to find the perfect photo but many times the photo finds me.  I always have a camera with me whether I am on my 12 1/2 foot sailboat gliding upon the sea or just going about my day discovering interesting plays of light, reflection and moods.   There, I express the  wonder that photographing brings to me not through words but through the final image I create.

I hope you enjoy the journey through my work. I have exhibited in several Cape Cod juried shows, the North River Art Society, Marshfield, MA, where I was awarded the Frank D. Sullivan Award for the Nautical Theme in Photography; the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, S. Yarmouth; and recently at the South Shore Art Center Summer Festival in Cohasset, MA.

I have also taken workshops with Onne van der Wal, Newport Yacht Racing Photographer, and Julia Cumes, Cultural Center of Cape Cod.  I recently completed “Portfolio Development & Marketing Your Fine Art Photography” with Karen Davis, from the Griffin Museum, Winchester, MA.
